VoiceThread App on iOS

VoiceThread Journal

October 11, 2011: The VoiceThread iOS App is here

Learn more about the VoiceThread app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Hello VoiceThreaders,

It's finally here! The VoiceThread App for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is now available in the iTunes store. "More like VoiceThread than VoiceThread" was one early review, which makes us very happy. We favor simplicity and "real" communication and this new App is a reflection of that.

We are particularly interested in the impact of this App on your work. How will multi-sensory learning, communicating, collaborating, presenting and storytelling impact the way you teach and learn? We welcome your input, so after using the App please leave a thoughtful review at the App store.  Also, if you're going to Educause in Philadelphia sign up here for our live demo.

How and why to Flip your Classroom with VoiceThread. Thursday October 20th, 3:00 PM EST / 12:00 PM PST

Community college instructor, Michelle Pacansky-Brock, will demonstrate how she used VoiceThread to flip her lecture-based art history class in this Free Webinar. In Michelle's words...

"The foundation of the 'flipped classroom' model is a series of mobile lectures paired with formative assessments that students complete prior to coming to class. VoiceThread is a single, easy to use tool that masterfully delivers mobile content with voice, visuals and video and invites students to participate in engaging assessment activities.

This model empowers an instructor to use class time on the topics that matter to students.  With passive listening taking place outside of class, students become active participants and engage in discussion, debate  and critique to foster higher order thinking skills.  The mobile lectures provide the flexibility to pause, rewind and learn in a way that meets individual needs. You'll be surprised to learn how the students responded and the effects of the experiment on student satisfaction, success and attrition rates."

Seats are limited, so please register here if you plan to attend!

New: Online Office Hour!

Learning is a process.  Take some time to reflect on what you've learned in this Webinar and then join Michelle during her online office hour to ask questions.

Wednesday, October 26th 3:00pm EST/12:00pm PST

Over two million people in over 150 countries and over 25% of the top 100 universities and colleges in the U.S.[1] connect and collaborate with VoiceThread. They're not all kindergartners and they're not all advanced degree candidates or electrical engineers, but they all do share one thing in common: they have something to say and are choosing a more human way to say it.

And as predicted in the 2009 Horizon Report, VoiceThread's impact is being felt across the entire landscape of teaching and learning, from medical schools to art schools, from advanced studies to special-needs and remedial instruction. We have compiled a list of these sources for independent research relevant to VoiceThread in Education. These scholarly articles and studies can be referenced in Applications for educational grants for federal funding for VoiceThread.
